Scheduling Appointments

Our office attempts to schedule appointments at your convenience and when time is available. We prefer to schedule preschool children in the morning because they are fresher and we can work more slowly with the child for his or her comfort. School-aged children with a number of treatment needs should also be seen in the morning for the same reason. We will be happy to give your child a school excuse for the appointment time.

Since appointment times are reserved exclusively for each patient, we ask that you please notify our office 24 hours in advance of your scheduled appointment time if you need to reschedule. Another patient who needs our care could be scheduled if we have sufficient time to contact them. We realize that unexpected things can happen, but we ask for your assistance in this regard.

Who Must Be Present?

According to Tennessee State Law, a parent, guardian, or designated adult over the age of 18 must be present throughout the entire appointment. For the first appointment, we require a parent or legal guardian to be present. For future appointments, we ask that you sign permission for other designated adults to bring your child.

Payment Options...

We accept cash, personal check, MasterCard, Visa, Discover Card, American Express and Care Credit. We also accept a variety of dental insurances.

Payment for professional services is due at the time dental treatment is provided. Every effort will be made to provide a treatment plan that fits your timetable and budget and also gives your child the best possible care.

We make every effort to assist you in maximizing the benefits of your dental insurance for the dental health of your child.

Our doctors and team  love working with children
and are dedicated to great dental experiences.

We, along with the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, recommend you bring your child in by his or her first birthday.

During your first visit, you will be introduced to our Pediatric Dental Team, given an office tour and and given an opportunity to discuss your child's unique smile and ways to keep it beautiful for years to come.

Depending on the age of your child, he or she will either be given a knee-to-knee examination (where your baby’s head will rest on our doctor’s knee while their body is on your lap) or a regular exam in the doctor’s chair.

Oral hygiene instructions will also be given with suggestions to help your child care for their own teeth. In most cases, we will also clean their teeth on this visit, and provide an evaluation that will outline any existing dental problems and proposed treatment.

Pediatric Dentistry

What is a Pediatric Dentist?

A Pediatric Dentist is a specialist dedicated to the oral health of children and the monitoring of their facial growth and development. Our office is designed for treating children from infancy through adolescence, as well as the medically and the physically compromised. In our opinion, taking your child to see a pediatric dental specialist is as important as taking them to see a pediatrician.

Establishing Your Child’s Dental Home

The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry encourages parents and other care providers to help every child establish a dental home by 12 months of age. Establishing a dental home provides some key components to dental care for your child including...

  • Comprehensive oral health care including acute care and preventive services.

  • Individualized preventive dental health program based upon a caries-risk assessment.

  • Anticipatory guidance regarding growth and development.

  • Plan for acute dental trauma (emergencies).

  • Dietary counseling.

  • Referrals to dental specialists when care cannot directly be provided within the dental home.

  • Referral at an age determined by patient, parent, and pediatric dentist.

Our Services

Preventive Oral Hygiene Instruction:

This includes proper brushing, flossing and eating habits, ideal fluoride levels and the use of pit and fissure sealants. We strive to provide a fun, educational environment whose children learn about the importance of good dental hygiene.

Restorative Dentistry:

This includes children’s fillings, crowns and prosthesis, including treatment of the often devastating nursing bottle decay. We are committed to discussing all options before these procedures and answering all questions you may have. Always working for the goal of a healthy smile is our first priority.

Emergency Treatment:

While our goal is to prevent dental emergencies, we understand that the need for urgent dental care is sometimes necessary and can be a stressful experience for both parents and children. We strive to handle dental emergencies promptly and with compassion.

Dr. Sarah E. Vanderbosch

Dr. Vanderbosch was born in Louisville, KY and raised in Naples, FL.  She attended Florida State University and then returned to Kentucky for dental school.  She graduated with her D.M.D from the University of Louisville in 2012.  After graduating from dental school, she moved to Clarksville with her husband who is stationed at Fort Campbell and is also a dentist.  They just relocated to Clarksville with their three dogs!

Her desire to serve the community led her to public health dentistry.  She practiced at the Robertson County and Montgomery County Health Departments for four years.  She was very active in promoting dental health at local health fairs, school dental screenings and school sealant programs throughout middle Tennessee.  She was also a board member of the Clarksville Association for Downs Syndrome.

To pursue her passion for promoting children’s dental health, she recently completed a two year pediatric residency at the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.  During residency she was involved in Give Kids a Smile, Ronald McDonald House, Backpack Coalition and Special Olympics.  She is very excited to be back in Clarksville, TN!  She looks forward to again being involved in the community and serving the children of Clarksville.
